Fatal Wrong-Way Collision on Interstate 41 in Grand Chute, Wisconsin Claims Life of Neenah Man
A devastating wrong-way collision on Interstate 41 resulted in the death of a 27-year-old Neenah man on Tuesday night in Grand Chute, Wisconsin. The incident occurred shortly after 10:15 p.m. near Lynndale Drive when a northbound SUV, driven by a 77-year-old Hortonville woman, was traveling in the wrong direction in the southbound lanes.
It was approximately 12:40 a.m. when a group of about 13 people, ages 20-22, were apparently celebrating a 21st birthday and were all on a fourth floor balcony at the Library Gardens apartments on Kittredge Street. For reasons unknown, the balcony gave way with all of the people on it and fell to the ground below. So far, six people have been confirmed dead, five of which were identified as foreign students from Ireland. Seven other people sustained serious to critical injuries and are being treated at the hospital.
Police are looking for a person that struck and killed a woman, identified as Allison Blanding, 24, while riding a dirt bike on Wabash Avenue at around 10 p.m., then fled the scene. Detectives from Baltimore's CRASH team are asking any witnesses to call 410-396-2606. The suspect reportedly popped a wheelie before coming down on Blanding's head, who was walking to her car in the parking lot of the West Cold Spring Metro Station.
